The problem
Freelancers and small businesses in the UAE regularly need two documents: a VAT-compliant tax invoice and a clean salary payslip. The usual options are heavy accounting suites with monthly fees, or fiddly spreadsheets that get the format wrong. For someone who just needs to send one correct invoice this week, both are overkill.
The brief was to make generating a correct UAE tax invoice, and a MOHRE-style payslip, as quick and painless as possible, and to make it free.
What we built
InvoiceDubai is a focused, browser-based generator.
- UAE tax invoices. Auto-calculated 5 percent VAT, a TRN field, and multi-currency with AED as the default.
- Salary payslips. MOHRE-style payslips with allowances and deductions.
- Clean PDF export. Documents download as PDFs kept under 500KB, so they attach and send easily.
- Branding. Logo upload and customisation so the document looks like it came from a real business.
- Sequential numbering. Invoice numbers that increment and can reset monthly.
- Works offline, no account needed. Generation and download happen in the browser. An optional free account lets you save, brand, and send, but nothing is gated behind sign-up.

The approach and the stack
The defining decision was to do the work in the browser. Generating the document client-side means it is fast, it works offline, and the user's data does not need to leave their device for the core task. That is a better experience and a simpler, cheaper thing to run. An optional lightweight backend handles saving and sending for those who want an account, but the tool is useful the moment it loads, with zero friction.

- No account wall. Asking someone to register before they can get value is the fastest way to lose them.
